The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Community and Technical College is currently seeking a Student Assistant 1 to join the Aviation Technology Center office located at Merrill Field Airport in Anchorage, Alaska. In this Student Assistant 1 role, you will play a vital part in supporting the operational activities of the Aviation Technology Center. Your responsibilities will include assisting faculty members, students, and representatives from various aviation companies that utilize the center’s facilities. The position focuses heavily on customer service, requiring excellent communication skills both over the phone, in person, and via email. You will be expected to manage inquiries professionally and help ensure that the center’s day-to-day functions run smoothly. Working with various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, and email systems will be part of your daily tasks. Additionally, you will be tasked with prioritizing assignments and projects, adhering to deadlines, and embracing both independent and collaborative work environments.
This part-time student employment opportunity is available during the academic year at up to 20 hours per week and increases to up to 40 hours per week during the summer. The pay rate is $12.36 per hour. You must be enrolled in the University of Alaska with at least six credit hours per semester and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 or have approval from the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. This position requires professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to follow detailed instructions while supporting a team environment.

- Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment or have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and plan to enroll for six or more credit hours in the upcoming semester
- Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or have approval from the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs or their designee
- Be available to work between 8:00am and 4:00pm Monday through Friday
- Be able to work up to 20 hours per week during academic sessions and up to 40 hours per week during summer
- Be an undergraduate student
