This project includes the creation of the new National Geographic Museum of Exploration (MOE), which will feature a state-of-the-art pavilion entrance, auditorium, iconic photo gallery, exhibition spaces, an immersive walk-through attraction, retail areas, food and beverage options, an education center, archives, tours, and exciting new event spaces. The capstone experience will be a unique nighttime event in the courtyard that highlights the spirit of exploration and discovery.
The Visitor Experience Supervisor role at the Museum of Exploration is a vital leadership position focused on ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities and delivering exceptional visitor interactions. This role will be based on-site, requiring the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays to align with museum hours and programming demands. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a collaborative spirit by supporting various teams and projects as needed, reflecting the Society's culture of partnership and shared expertise. This supervisor will serve as a key point of contact for visitors, offering assistance and problem-solving to enhance the overall guest experience. Responsibilities include staffing the museum and events, managing crowd control, handling visitor concerns, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all guests.
In addition to operational duties, the Visitor Experience Supervisor will lead staff coordination efforts, including hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of Visitor Experience Representatives. Effective communication skills are essential to keep staff informed of daily updates and operational changes. The role also involves close collaboration with senior management to report on visitor-related issues and provide support during special events such as National Geographic Live and other society functions. - Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3+ years experience working in a museum, theater, or other cultural institution
- 1+ years managerial experience
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Ability to learn and retain information quickly
- Team-oriented with strong customer service skills
- Flexibility and positivity in dealing with new experiences and people
- Enjoyment working with the public
- Comfort learning and working with varied technologies and equipment
