The company is presently seeking a Supervisor for Trade and Customs Operations at its Bolingbrook, Illinois location. This role is critical to ensuring compliant and efficient import and export operations in harmony with U.S. and international trade regulations. As the U.S. Trade and Customs Operations Supervisor, the individual will be responsible for leading key initiatives that mitigate risks, adhere to regulatory standards, and optimize trade workflows. This involves acting as a pivotal liaison between internal teams including supply chain, logistics, and customer service, as well as external partners such as customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
In this role, the Supervisor will manage customs consumption entries and Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations, ensuring the accurate classification, valuation, and eligibility of products under various Free Trade Agreements and trade programs. They will also drive export compliance efforts aligned with regulations such as the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). This position requires close attention to detail and proactive management of export licensing, reporting requirements, and AES filing for timely and accurate export declarations.
The Supervisor will play a key role in duty optimization through strategies related to allocation, mitigation, and recovery, collaborating across functions to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness. They will continually monitor regulatory updates and spearhead audits to ensure the integrity of compliance processes both internally and with external U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) audits. Leading training initiatives for internal stakeholders and working with customs brokers to implement procedural improvements are also essential components of this position.
The role is full-time and offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $130,000 annually, with eligibility for variable pay or bonuses. - Strong understanding of U.S. Customs procedures and documentation
- Hands-on experience managing import and export workflows
- Proficient in HTS classification, origin determination, valuation, and free trade agreement (FTA) validation
- Experience collaborating with customs brokers
- Skilled in ERP systems (SAP preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, or CBP ACE portal
- 7+ years of progressive experience in trade compliance and customs operations
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline
- Hands-on experience in compiling and filing CBP duty drawback claims and supporting audits
- Knowledgeable in FTZ (Foreign-Trade Zone) operational processes and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), including licensing and classification
- Customs Broker License
