The Traffic Operator role is an exciting opportunity within Colliers Engineering & Design’s Highways & Traffic Engineering team located in Newark, New Jersey. This full-time position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment at a Port Authority (PANYNJ) facility, where the successful candidate will actively monitor and manage real-time traffic conditions. The Traffic Operator is responsible for observing, documenting, and mitigating both planned and unplanned transportation events to ensure smooth traffic flow within the landside roadway network and enhance the overall customer experience. This position requires collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders including senior leadership, first responders, law enforcement, and partner agencies. It involves working with various Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices such as Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), Variable Message Signs (VMS), Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras, and traffic signal systems to gather and disseminate traffic information effectively. The operator must effectively analyze data from multiple sources and dashboards to make informed decisions that improve traffic operations while maintaining public safety. The role demands flexibility with work schedules, including the ability to work weekends, holidays, and off-hour shifts when necessary. It also offers competitive compensation ranging from $33.00 to $35.00 per hour, dependent on qualifications. The ideal candidate will have a background in traffic engineering or traffic operations, with a strong capability to handle pressure, multi-task, and work collaboratively within a team setting.   • Valid US driver’s license
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • 1+ years of traffic engineering/traffic operations experience

  • Ability to perform tasks effectively under pressure
