The role of Director of Operations Finance at Sage Hospitality Group offers a strategic and dynamic career opportunity for seasoned finance professionals within the hospitality sector. This full-time position, based in Denver, reports to senior leadership and acts as a strategic partner to hotel executives and corporate operational leaders. The Director of Operations Finance plays a pivotal role in maximizing asset value and return on investment for property owners and equity partners by providing rigorous financial oversight, actionable insights, and proactive service support for a portfolio of hotels. This position involves direct oversight of corporate finance and accounting associates and indirect supervision of property-level finance and accounting leaders, ensuring strong internal controls, profitability, compliance, and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with operational leaders to identify and capitalize on profitability opportunities, managing purchasing programs and third-party utilities, driving continuous financial performance improvements through detailed analysis of monthly and annual results, and supporting shared service teams to enhance operational efficiencies. The Director also leads the preparation and review of investment pro-formas, oversees staffing and training for accounting positions, and manages the maintenance of strong internal control environments.
On the operational side, the role requires providing insightful analytics to General Managers and operations teams related to forecasting, cost control, and margin enhancement across a diversified portfolio including hotels and restaurants. The Director is also charged with driving standardization, process optimization, and fostering a culture of analytics and metrics-based decision making. Effective partnership management across departments, ownership groups, and external stakeholders is crucial, alongside active participation in strategic planning, business development initiatives, and communication strategies targeted at customers and investors.
This position demands a deep understanding of hospitality finance, including ownership agreements, compliance with lenders and lessors, and managing property transitions and new openings. The Director also serves as a key liaison for owner communications, providing timely and transparent financial reporting and addressing ownership needs and expectations.
Educationally, candidates should possess an undergraduate degree, preferably with a concentration in finance or accounting, complemented by at least five years of related management experience in hospitality finance, including two years in a property director or controller role. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication and presentation skills, advanced financial analysis abilities, and a proactive, forward-thinking approach to problem-solving and strategic decision-making.
