The Program Director III role at UAB is a leadership position central to the newly established NIH P50 Disability Health Promotion Research Center (DHPRC). This role is designed to provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring that the center meets its ambitious goals in advancing disability health promotion through research, outreach, and community engagement. The position involves aligning the DHPRC's initiatives with key partner centers such as the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD) and the Center for Engagement in Disability Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (CEDHARS), thus amplifying the program's impact across the spectrum of disability health research and practice.
This role requires a professional who can strategically manage the center's day-to-day operations, ensuring all timelines and deliverables are met within budget and NIH compliance frameworks. The Program Director III will lead and supervise diverse teams, including faculty, staff, trainees, and students, fostering professional development and maintaining high performance standards across the center's multifaceted activities. The position demands strong expertise in project management, communication, and event coordination, including organizing symposiums, webinars, and training events aimed at knowledge dissemination and capacity building.
The individual will be responsible for comprehensive financial oversight, including budget monitoring, forecasting, and collaboration with institutional offices to ensure fiscal responsibility. Additionally, the role calls for active participation in manuscript preparation, NIH reporting, and strategic communication efforts such as newsletters and social media outreach, enhancing stakeholder engagement and public awareness of the center’s work.
