The role of a Porter at Gerber Collision & Glass is integral to the repair process and overall customer experience. The Porter is primarily responsible for enhancing the quality of repairs by ensuring customer vehicles are cleaned and prepared before delivery. This includes both interior and exterior vehicle cleaning, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the shop and office facilities. Porters also support operational efficiency by managing waste disposal, organizing tools and equipment, and keeping the parking lots and grounds orderly, including snow removal when necessary. In addition to vehicle preparation, Porters handle the transport of vehicles to sublet repair locations, contributing to the smooth flow of service operations. This role demands strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. Porters must be capable of multitasking and comfortable performing various physical activities, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working around moving mechanical parts. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to meet physical demands such as walking, standing, and occasional stooping or kneeling. Automotive experience is preferred but not mandatory. Compensation ranges from $18 to $22 per hour and is commensurate with skill, education, and experience. Porters may also be eligible for performance-related bonuses, adding further earning potential.
