Within this reputable organization, the role of Sushi Chef is pivotal in the Asian department, classified under a non-exempt employment status. As a Sushi Chef, you will play an integral part in delivering fresh, high-quality sushi products prepared safely and efficiently for customers. This position entails a blend of culinary expertise, customer service excellence, and teamwork with fellow employees. Your responsibilities will include preparing and packaging fresh sushi orders, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation protocols, and managing inventory through ordering and receiving products. The role also requires active customer engagement, ensuring every customer receives attentive, friendly service both in-person and via telephone.
Beyond the foundational tasks of sushi preparation and food safety, the Sushi Chef will oversee merchandising efforts, contribute to food layout planning, and assist with scheduling and food ordering logistics. - High school diploma or equivalent
- Hy-Vee food safety training and Food Safety Certified
- one to three years of relevant work experience
- ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly
- ability to perform physical activities such as balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- visual acuity including depth perception, color vision, and field of vision
- willingness to work in fast paced, pressure-intensive environments with exposure to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, temperature extremes, and occasionally cleaning chemicals
