The Support Aide position within the Laundry Department at RWJ New Brunswick plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, which are fundamental to patient safety and hospital operations. The Support Aide is responsible for cleaning all patient and non-patient areas throughout the hospital, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for staff, patients, and visitors alike. Key responsibilities of this role include dusting, mopping, spot cleaning, disinfecting fixtures and furnishings, vacuuming carpets, emptying waste baskets, transporting waste and linen appropriately, and following isolation cleaning protocols to prevent the spread of infection. A strong emphasis is placed on thoroughness and adherence to cleaning procedures in both general and isolation areas. The Support Aide also maintains cleaning equipment, reports supply needs and repair work orders, and delivers clean linen throughout the facility. This position requires mechanical aptitude for operating various cleaning machines and may involve specialized floor maintenance techniques such as striping and burnishing. In addition to physical cleaning tasks, the Support Aide enhances their skills through attending in-service training, meetings, and educational programs, aligning with RWJ New Brunswick’s focus on continuous professional development. Those in this role must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities including bending, stooping, and stretching, reflecting the demanding nature of maintaining a hospital environment.
