The position of Nutrition Services Substitute School Nutrition General Worker is a casual/seasonal role within the district, offering flexible, as-needed work across various school sites throughout the district. This substitute role typically involves working three hours per day, with shifts commonly scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This flexible arrangement means hours are not guaranteed, offering an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking part-time work with adaptable schedules. Compensation for this role is set at $20.58 per hour, with an anticipated pay increase scheduled for September 19, 2025. The position is classified as non-exempt and operates within a 10-month work year.
The primary goal of this position focuses on supporting the District’s School Nutrition program by providing meal services to children during breakfast and/or lunch periods. Responsibilities include setting up serving lines, preparing and delivering food to students and staff, cashiering, dishwashing, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in kitchen and service areas. These duties are essential to ensuring that meals are prepared, served, and stored safely to promote food safety and sanitation while creating a warm and inviting dining experience for students and staff. The Nutrition Services Substitute Worker is also expected to assist with recording inventory, practicing safe food handling, and collaborating with kitchen managers and other team members to maintain the smooth operation of meal service. This role demands individuals who are willing to learn, demonstrate strong initiative, and enjoy contributing to fast-paced environments.
This position requires willingness to abide by health and safety protocols including completion of training such as ServeSafe certification and other district-sponsored in-service opportunities to promote personal and professional growth. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, work in varied temperature environments, and stand for extended periods on cement floors. Employees in this role must possess effective communication skills and be capable of following instructions independently or cooperatively working with others.
