The Wine Steward role at Invited is a vital position within the Food and Beverage department, focused on enhancing the overall dining experience by providing expert wine recommendations and service to the club's members and guests. This role requires a deep understanding of wine characteristics, pairings, and industry best practices to curate and present the club's extensive wine list professionally. Reporting to the Food & Beverage/Beverage Director or Banquet/Restaurant Manager, the Wine Steward plays a crucial role in ensuring that wine service meets the highest standards of quality and professionalism, thereby contributing directly to member and guest satisfaction.
The Wine Steward is responsible not only for knowledgeable wine presentation but also for managing the wine inventory, ensuring proper storage and rotation according to industry standards. Additionally, the position demands excellent interpersonal skills to greet members warmly, assist them with wine selections that complement their meals, and create an inviting dining atmosphere. Handling wine-related concerns with prompt and effective solutions is also an essential aspect of this role.
Daily responsibilities include maintaining an expert level of wine knowledge, overseeing wine service areas for events, completing routine tasks such as cleaning and stocking wine tools, and supporting other team members when necessary. The dynamic nature of the club environment requires the Wine Steward to be adaptable, professional, safety-conscious, and proactive about personal and professional growth, including maintaining relevant certifications.
Employees in this role must be physically capable of performing the demands of the job, which includes standing or walking for extended periods, lifting up to 100 pounds, and working in varying environmental conditions. Primary tools utilized include trays, POS systems, bottle openers, wine tools, wine lists or menus, and appropriate glassware.

- Sommelier certification or coursework in wine knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Food and Beverage role with specific wine service experience or training preferred
- Completion of Invited's Food and Beverage Service Training program preferred
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and effectively
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate well with team members
- Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments with potential exposure to dust, fumes, or gases
- Capability of climbing ladders, squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, bending, and folding/unfolding as required
- Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Effective communication skills including talking, hearing, with sufficient visual acuity
