The role of Export Freight Specialist at FedEx is essential in ensuring the seamless and efficient movement of international export freight. This position requires advanced knowledge and adherence to established regulations and procedures governing international freight shipments. The specialist is tasked with managing freight held "in-bond" according to customer instructions, facilitating broker-select clearance options, and ensuring compliance with all pertinent regulatory frameworks. The individual will be responsible for creating accurate and compliant shipping documents such as Air Waybills (AWB), Commercial Invoices, Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings, and obtaining the Certification of Origin (COO) under the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
Effective communication is a critical aspect of this role. The Export Freight Specialist acts as a liaison between customers, operational teams, sales departments, regulatory bodies, and legal teams to guarantee that all export transactions are well documented and executed without delays. An important part of the role also includes educating customers on generating shipping documents through FedEx's online portal via web sharing, helping them navigate the complexities of export documentation.
Candidates for this position must have at least eighteen months of experience in international transportation, freight forwarding, or brokerage, along with knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and key software systems like COSMOS, K2, EPOS, VISA, FAMIS, ECIS, and ESRG. Strong PC skills in word processing and spreadsheets are essential to handle the documentation and reporting aspects effectively.
Working in this role demands a high level of independence, alertness, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Export Freight Specialist is expected to maintain good human relations with internal teams and customers while demonstrating strong analytical and prioritizing skills. This position is located at the FedEx Indianapolis Hub, and applicants should reside within a 50-mile radius of this location.
