The position of Cook is integral to the restaurant’s operations, responsible for preparing batch recipes and menu items in strict accordance with the restaurant's preparation standards and timing requirements. Cooks utilize high-quality ingredients and adhere to all food safety protocols to ensure the delivery of consistent and safe food products. Working in this role requires not only culinary skill but also an awareness of the guest experience, especially in restaurants with open kitchens where interaction and professionalism are key. This role reports directly to the Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager and demands a commitment to the restaurant’s mission of exceeding guest expectations and encouraging repeat visits. 
Cooks are tasked with various responsibilities that include setting up and breaking down their cooking stations efficiently, maintaining the kitchen and restaurant's cleanliness, and cooperating with fellow team members to support smooth service. They must follow the restaurant’s Core Kitchen Workbook procedures for all cooking tasks to maintain standardization. Handling of food involves maintaining rigorous hygiene and sanitation practices consistent with health department regulations, including holding a current Food Handlers Permit. In addition to food preparation, cooks are responsible for helping maintain profitability by controlling waste, following recipe guidelines, and ensuring the security of all food products.
The role requires physical stamina and coordination to handle the demands of the kitchen environment, including lifting up to 25 pounds, climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and moving quickly. Cooks must also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to read and comprehend recipes and other instructions in English. This position is suited for individuals with high energy levels, good teamwork abilities, and a positive, guest-focused approach.
