The Guest Service Manager position at GHC is a key role within the hotel’s Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the General Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing the Front Desk operations and ensuring that the highest standards of guest service are consistently maintained. The Guest Service Manager supervises the Guest Services team, guiding and mentoring them to enhance both employee performance and customer satisfaction. This position requires active collaboration with other hotel departments such as Sales, Housekeeping, and Revenue Management to ensure smooth operations and an outstanding guest experience.
The role demands a hands-on approach to managing daily operations, including effective orientation and continuous training of new and existing staff. The Guest Service Manager also plays an integral part in supporting department managers by actively engaging in guest greetings, shift coverage, and overseeing overall customer service quality and property cleanliness. Additionally, the manager handles guest complaints efficiently, working closely with the General Manager to implement corrective measures when necessary.
Financial responsibilities are also a significant aspect of this role. The Guest Service Manager ensures accuracy in guest billing, oversees accounting duties, and works with the Sales team to manage occupancy and group room blocks. They participate in revenue and budget planning meetings, manage expenses focusing on room rates, labor costs, and guest satisfaction scores, and review invoices for departmental expenses before processing.
The position requires thorough knowledge and adherence to federal, state, and local laws concerning wage, hour, safety, sanitation, and health regulations. The Guest Service Manager is also involved in completing regular inspections of rooms and public spaces, ensuring brand standards are met, and maintaining compliance with all legal and safety requirements. The ability to multitask, problem-solve under pressure, and make quick decisions is essential for success in this position.
This position demands flexibility with a schedule that regularly includes evenings and weekends, along with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Fluency in English is required, and bilingual skills in Spanish are considered a plus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hotel housekeeping and front desk supervisory roles, experience with property management systems (PMS), guest relations, and preferably some knowledge of budget and P&L management. An Associate’s Degree in Hospitality is a valued addition.
