The role of Class A CDL Driver - Toter Driver at Clayton Homes is a full-time position reporting to the Terminal Manager. This position is crucial within the logistics and transportation division, responsible for the safe and effective transportation of all classes of oversized and overweight housing loads. A Toter Truck Driver is generally considered a senior driver requiring a Class A CDL and extensive experience and skills in operating heavy vehicles and specialized equipment. This role demands diligent coordination with Driver Supervisors, Home Center Teams, Manufacturing Teams, and Pilot Escorts to ensure smooth delivery operations. In this role, the driver will maintain compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, undertake daily equipment inspections, and manage electronic driver logs. The driver is also accountable for coordinating and securing all necessary permits prior to deliveries, ensuring professional presentation of vehicles, and maintaining accurate and timely paperwork. The Class A CDL Driver fosters a culture of safety and efficiency by partnering with various teams to plan the scheduling of deliveries, safely transporting oversized loads to appointed retail locations, and providing route guidance and operational insights. Additionally, the driver is responsible for reporting any traffic incidents or damages promptly, ensuring post-shift equipment servicing, and embodying Clayton Homes' commitment to world-class customer service during all phases of transportation.
