The position of Chef at Azul Hospitality is a critical leadership role responsible for directing food preparation, production, and control across all food outlets and banquet facilities at the resort. This role requires a hands-on leader who can supervise and coordinate the kitchen team including lead cooks, line cooks, prep cooks, and stewards. The Chef is charged with enhancing the food products served to guests by responding proactively to market trends and guest expectations, incorporating market research into menu development, and continuously improving food quality, presentation, and consistency. This position demands the ability to manage food procurement through vendor relationships and maintain proper receiving and storage to guarantee the freshest ingredients are used in meal preparation.
The Chef takes a strategic approach to food cost management, ensuring the culinary operations align with budgetary guidelines while driving profitability through efficient staff management and food standards adherence. Responsibilities also include menu innovation, recipe development, sanitation standards enforcement, and active involvement in inventory management and payroll oversight for the culinary team. The role acts as a liaison between the culinary department and other hotel departments to ensure seamless operations and exceptional guest experiences.
Candidates for this Chef position must exhibit strong leadership abilities, culinary knowledge of international and domestic cuisines, and an aptitude for managing complex kitchen operations in a high-paced environment. Ideal applicants will be detail-oriented professionals, skilled in budgeting, quality control, and employee training. They will also have comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations, federal and local employment laws, and possess exceptional organizational and communication skills. A certification as a Chef or Certified Master Chef, along with safe server alcohol and food handler certificates, are mandatory. The role also requires physical stamina to work in extreme temperatures and the ability for well-paced mobility during shift hours.
