The role of Sous Chef at Oakmont of Agoura Hills is a vital position responsible for supporting the culinary operations in line with the community’s standards of excellence. The Sous Chef prepares food in accordance with approved menus, property policies, and current standards and regulations. This position requires culinary expertise as well as leadership skills, as the Sous Chef may be called upon to oversee the overall operation of the Culinary Department in the absence of the Culinary Services Director. The Sous Chef ensures that dining experiences for residents, family members, and visitors are of the highest quality, with attention given to menu selections, meal preparation, presentation, taste, and service. Responsibilities include assisting with meal planning, preparation, and delivery, managing food safety and sanitation, maintaining inventory and ordering supplies within budget, and training culinary personnel. The role also involves frequent interaction with residents to tailor culinary services to their preferences, especially for those with specific dietary needs related to assisted living and dementia care. Shifts for this position typically run Sunday through Thursday, with the possibility of working weekends and holidays as needed. The pay range is $25.00 to $27.00 per hour.   • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer six months of experience as a cook in a restaurant or similar environment
  • Ability to safely operate standard cooking equipment
  • Proficiency in MS Office and standard office equipment
  • Knowledge of assisted living and dementia care preferred
  • Ability to work with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and pass background and health screenings
  • Compliance with health and safety protocols
