We are seeking a full-time Sous Chef to join our talented Culinary Services team at University House Wallingford. This role is pivotal in maintaining high culinary standards and ensuring residents receive exceptional dining experiences aligned with their dietary needs and preferences. As a Sous Chef, you will take on a leadership position within the kitchen, supporting the Culinary Services Director by overseeing food preparation, inventory management, and adherence to rigorous cleanliness and safety standards. Your culinary expertise and leadership will directly impact the quality and satisfaction of the dining services provided. The compensation for this role ranges from $27 to $29 per hour, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, vision, and dental plans, life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and generous 401(k) retirement plan with company match. This position requires independent work capability as well as collaboration with the culinary team to provide a seamless dining service. Strong communication skills and the ability to operate within a high-volume food service environment are essential.   • High school diploma or GED
  • Three plus years cooking experience in a high volume food service establishment
  • Experience training kitchen staff in culinary techniques or other kitchen duties
  • Food Handler's Certificate or able to obtain within 14 days of hire
  • First Aid and CPR certified or able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • ServSafe Certification or able to obtain as determined by community needs
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to pass DSHS and State background check
  • Ability to perform duties in compliance with Universal Precautions, fire safety, infection control, and sanitation procedures
