The current opportunity is for a full-time Sous Chef position at a college cafe located in Mission Viejo, CA. This role is ideal for culinary professionals who want to continue inspiring others through their culinary skills, but without the late-night shifts typical of many restaurant kitchens. The position offers a predictable schedule with set shifts and a manageable workload, allowing for a balanced work-life arrangement that is often missing in the culinary industry. As a key member of the kitchen team, the Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to maintain superior food quality standards, oversee and mentor the cook staff, and contribute to menu design and modifications.
The Sous Chef will be responsible for the preparation of food for patrons, cafeterias, and catering events, ensuring that all dishes are delivered with consistent quality and proper portion control by following standardized recipes. Additionally, the role includes forecasting and managing appropriate food quantities necessary to meet menu requirements efficiently, aligning with budget and operational goals. The Sous Chef must strictly adhere to all Food Safety and Health regulations, including Federal, State, and local guidelines, to prevent foodborne illnesses and promote a safe dining environment.
