The role offered is a Customer Service Representative position responsible for providing passengers with superior customer service either behind the ticket counter or on the station floor or platform. This position involves direct interaction with customers, including greeting, assisting with travel needs, processing various types of tickets, and ensuring an inviting and supportive passenger experience. The ideal candidate will maintain a positive, good-natured attitude at all times and be comfortable speaking on public address systems and operating computer systems specific to Amtrak's operations.
This role requires a thorough understanding of Amtrak's ticketing systems such as Arrow, Railres/Stars, and Quik-Trak, and the ability to price tickets correctly according to tariffs. Customer service extends to assistance with special needs, baggage handling, and boarding procedures. The position involves physical tasks such as lifting luggage up to 50 pounds, operating baggage equipment like tow tractors and forklifts, and performing light janitorial duties. Responsibilities also include keeping information racks stocked, working with the Passenger Information Display System, and ensuring all boarding procedures are timely and compliant with company standards.
