The position of Sous Chef at Oak View Group represents a key leadership role within the culinary operations at the University of Southern California (USC) Athletics facilities. USC Athletics operates a wide variety of sports programs and facilities, hosting many large-scale events including sporting events, concerts, and special cultural activities. The Sous Chef will play a critical role in assisting the Executive Chef with all kitchen operations including the main, grill, and banquet kitchens. This position involves responsibilities such as ordering supplies, scheduling kitchen staff, overseeing sanitation and maintenance, developing employees, and conducting performance reviews. The role requires strong organizational skills, a commitment to quality, and the ability to lead and inspire a culinary team. This role offers an hourly wage ranging from $29.00 to $32.00 and is accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions, and paid time off encompassing vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays. The successful candidate will be integral to the daily activities of the kitchen, ensuring efficient preparation and service of a la carte menus, employee meals, and private dining events. The Sous Chef will oversee food ordering, storage, and rotation practices while ensuring all kitchen areas meet cleanliness and sanitation standards. They will also contribute to menu development and assist with managing kitchen payroll and work schedules.
In addition to operational responsibilities, this role requires strong communication skills and the ability to handle member and guest interactions professionally, addressing any concerns promptly and effectively to uphold Oak View Group’s service excellence. The Sous Chef will participate in food and beverage meetings, banquet meetings, and line-ups to coordinate team efforts.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2-3 years experience as a line cook
- Valid health and sanitation certification
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs occasionally
