The Sous Chef role at Oak View Group is pivotal to the successful operation of its culinary team. This position involves active supervision, coaching, and mentoring of kitchen staff to uphold the company’s rigorous quality standards. The Sous Chef is responsible for fostering a positive and cooperative work environment by managing employee relations and ensuring compliance with company policies. This is an hourly paid role with a wage range between $22.00 and $24.00. The position requires open availability due to the event-driven nature of the business, including evenings and weekends.
As a key leadership role in a dynamic and fast-paced kitchen environment, the Sous Chef will oversee all culinary operations, including line set-up, preparation, and breakdown activities, as well as buffet and beverage service areas. The Sous Chef collaborates closely with the Executive Chef to maintain quality, consistency, and proper food safety standards and ensures that all kitchen processes adhere to regulatory requirements. Excellent interpersonal and independent decision-making skills are necessary to guide the kitchen team effectively.                 - High school diploma or equivalent GED
 - Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in upscale banquet, hotel or convention center culinary operations
 - Valid State-issued Health Certificate
 - Up-to-date immunizations
 - Serve Safe certification
 - Ability to work flexible event-driven schedules including nights and weekends
 - Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
 - Ability to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects
 - Effective communication skills
 - Proficient in computer software including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
 - Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
 - Ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
