The Sous Chef will work directly under the Executive Chef, playing a critical role in planning and directing food preparation within the kitchen. This position requires a leader who can oversee kitchen operations, manage staff efficiently, and ensure that all dishes meet our rigorous quality and presentation standards. The Sous Chef must be ready to address any kitchen challenges promptly, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities and maintaining composure under pressure. A passion for food, wine, and exceptional guest experiences is essential, as is a respect for the sourcing and preparation of ingredients that align with our restaurant's vision.
This role involves collaboration with the executive chef to develop a diverse and appealing menu that reflects the restaurant’s philosophy. The Sous Chef is responsible for monitoring hygiene and food safety at all stages of food preparation, assuring that every dish is both delicious and safe. The candidate must be adept at handling the pace and demands of a high-volume kitchen, organizing the expo process, and upholding a high standard of simple yet authentic food that impresses through taste and technique rather than excessive embellishment. The ideal Sous Chef will combine culinary expertise with excellent leadership skills, mentoring junior staff and fostering an environment of learning and professionalism.
This full-time role demands physical stamina and flexibility, including prolonged periods of standing, lifting, and working in close quarters using hot, cold, and hazardous equipment. Flexibility in hours is sometimes necessary to cover colleagues’ shifts or manage emergency situations effectively. A culinary degree is preferred, and candidates should bring at least one to three years of experience working in high-volume kitchens.
