The Food Service Department Manager at ShopRite plays a vital role in leading and supervising all functions and activities of the Food Service Department. This is a management position responsible for achieving departmental objectives related to sales, profit, customer experience, and associate engagement. Under the leadership of the General Store Manager, the Food Service Department Manager ensures that all operations align with ShopRite’s core purpose and service priorities. The role involves overseeing food safety protocols, maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and fostering a safe and clean work environment. The manager must adeptly balance operational efficiency with a strong customer focus by leading associates in delivering prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service to shoppers. This includes training staff, managing inventory and pricing, coordinating daily departmental tasks, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards such as HAACP and HAZCOM. As a key leadership position, the Food Service Department Manager also promotes associate engagement through hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance feedback to build a motivated and cooperative team. The manager is responsible for departmental presentation, including product stocking, merchandising, and cleanliness, to uphold ShopRite’s high standards. Efficiency measures include utilizing technology for operations, maintaining accurate records and reports, and managing financial aspects such as shrink control and inventory procedures. This role also requires physical capabilities such as lifting merchandise, climbing ladders, and working in various environmental conditions.
