This particular career opportunity is within UPS's Global Logistics and Distribution business unit, which focuses on providing comprehensive logistics services and warehousing solutions that leverage a global network of distribution centers and supply chain expertise. The role centers on supporting the movement and growth of inbound and outbound cargo for freight forwarding customers, ensuring compliance with governmental regulations such as those from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The position is essential for coordinating with vendors, customers, commercial airline carriers, ocean freightliners, and various internal teams to facilitate efficient international and domestic air and ocean shipments.
As a supervisor, the successful candidate will manage union employees involved in freight handling, shipping, receiving, documentation, and warehouse functions. The role demands strong leadership skills to plan labor and equipment needs based on daily workload, enforce compliance with collective bargaining agreements and safety policies, and address performance and disciplinary issues in collaboration with Human Resources and Labor Relations. The supervisor will also monitor productivity, accuracy, and compliance to meet service level goals, maintain daily operational reports, and collaborate across departments, including customer service and customs, to resolve shipment issues and improve processes. This permanent position typically requires working Monday through Friday from 3 pm to 11:30 pm with some flexibility for Saturdays, reflecting the dynamic nature of logistics operations.
