The Seasonal Porter Supervisor role at the Bronx Zoo is a vital leadership position within the Business Services Department, specifically tied to Events and Catering operations. This temporary, seasonal, non-exempt position plays a crucial role in supervising and coordinating the porter staff who assist with event setup, execution, and cleanup to ensure exceptional standards are upheld during zoo events. The Seasonal Porter Supervisor reports directly to the Events and Catering Manager and Assistant Manager and is responsible for guaranteeing that every detail—from equipment handling to sanitation—is executed with precision and professionalism. This role demands flexible availability to work during irregular hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and the possibility of long shifts extending up to 10 hours or more.
Responsibilities include managing multiple projects simultaneously while endorsing WCS standards for event excellence by directing the porter team in setup tasks such as arranging tables, chairs, linens, and food service equipment, as well as overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of all event-related areas. The supervisor also handles logistical tasks such as loading and transporting event supplies and equipment, ensuring a safe and organized environment, and carrying out inventory and cleaning of catering tools. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to maintain calm under pressure, and effective leadership to motivate the porter team for optimal event performance.

The Seasonal Porter Supervisor may occasionally be assigned to other WCS facilities such as Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and New York Aquarium, fostering an engaging, dynamic working environment.
