The Seasonal Events Worker position at the Oregon Zoo, under Metro’s Events Division, is a winter seasonal role starting around November 17, 2025, and ending on or about February 27, 2026. This role requires a commitment of at least 20 hours per week, with availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. The worker will be involved in the setup, operation, and teardown of public and private events, with a particular focus on ZooLights. The position demands strong hands-on skills related to event installation, maintenance, and safety procedures, including the use of various tools and equipment such as ladders, forklifts, and aerial lifts. Responsibilities include assembling and disassembling event infrastructure like canopies and lighting displays, assisting performers, clients, and visitors, and performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting tasks related to event setups. Given the physical nature of the job, the worker must be capable of lifting heavy equipment and able to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions. - Two years of experience or training in warehouse duties or basic maintenance
- valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured by Metro’s insurance carrier
- possession of, or ability to obtain, and maintain Forklift Certification
- ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs without assistance
- ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- availability to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts
- ability to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stand for long periods
- willingness to work a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least four days per week during the seasonal period
- ability to work safely and follow safety protocols
- ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
