As a Custodian, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining various areas including classrooms, break rooms, gymnasiums, libraries, and nurse stations, as well as setting up rooms for events and meetings. The role requires hands-on duties such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors, dusting furniture and fixtures, emptying trash, sanitizing bathrooms, and applying wax or sealers to floors as needed. Custodians also assist with building security by locking and unlocking doors, and participate in routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and filters. In addition to routine cleaning, the Custodian must have a working knowledge of using various cleaning equipment and supplies safely and effectively, including hand tools, power tools, vacuum cleaners, and floor buffers. Knowledge of HAZMAT regulations and Safety Data Sheets is necessary to handle cleaning chemicals properly and ensure safety standards are met. The role may require flexibility in work hours, especially during summer school schedules, to accommodate the needs of the campus. • High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Two or more years experience in custodial cleaning
• Knowledge of HAZMAT regulations and Safety Data Sheets
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work and remain on feet for extended periods up to 4 hours
• Ability to pass a criminal history background check
• For Arizona employees, ability to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times
