This recruitment pertains to the position of Building Attendant, a critical role that focuses on maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of various City buildings and facilities. This position is part-time, offering 19 hours per week, under a limited services status. Building Attendants are frontline contributors who ensure that Santa Maria’s public venues are attractive, secure, and functional, directly impacting the experience of residents and visitors alike.
The role involves performing general cleaning and custodial duties, such as restroom sanitation, waste management, and replenishing supplies in public spaces. Additionally, Building Attendants are responsible for securing facilities by locking/unlocking doors and managing alarm systems. Their duties further include identifying potential safety issues, reporting graffiti or hazards, and supporting special events by setting up equipment. This position requires a high level of responsibility, attention to detail, and a strong customer service ethic, as these employees often serve as direct representatives of the City’s commitment to quality public services.
