The role of the Assistant Kitchen Manager at PURE Taqueria is pivotal in supporting the General Manager and Kitchen Manager to achieve the restaurant's mission of delivering outstanding food and service. This position involves creating, coordinating, and leading a strong and motivated Back of the House (BOH) team responsible for the daily operations within the kitchen, prep, and dish areas. The Assistant Kitchen Manager ensures that all activities adhere to PURE's standards, programs, and systems, playing a key role in maintaining the smooth and efficient function of the kitchen. This role demands a proactive leader who can develop and implement plans aimed at achieving key objectives related to food quality, cost control, employee retention, cleanliness, and sanitation. The Assistant Kitchen Manager must possess a thorough understanding and excellent working knowledge of daily accounting functions, POS systems, and supporting computer technologies to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency. Additionally, the Assistant Kitchen Manager takes on responsibilities during scheduled shifts as an Expo or BOH Manager On Duty (MOD) and is prepared to fulfill all duties of a Kitchen Manager when required. A strong emphasis is placed on culinary skill, particularly advanced knife skills, expertise in Escoffier techniques, and proficiency in butchering meat and fish. The position is designed for individuals who are passionate about culinary arts and leadership and are committed to fostering an environment of excellence and innovation within the kitchen. With a demanding work schedule that typically involves standing for long hours and handling physical tasks such as lifting and stooping, this role suits a dedicated professional capable of thriving in a fast-paced restaurant atmosphere.   • Must have a proven record of leadership team building effective communication and sound judgment
  • At least 2 years experience as a chef sous chef or kitchen manager or equivalent with an emphasis on Escoffier techniques
  • Must have excellent communication skills in either English or Spanish
  • Must have current ServSafe certification
  • Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a POS system accounting software and Microsoft Office
  • Be able to work in a standing position for 10-12 hours per day
  • Be able to reach bend stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work 50 to 60 hours per week
