This role is essential to maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and hospitality standards within the Downtown Berkeley YMCA facility, including its residence rooms and common areas. Working under the direction of the Residence Property Director, you will be tasked with a range of custodial and front desk duties that ensure a clean, welcoming, and secure environment. Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms and kitchen areas multiple times per shift, refilling supplies, handling laundry operations such as collecting and distributing linens and towels, vacuuming and mopping various floor types, and preparing newly vacant rooms with disinfecting measures accurate to CDC N List guidelines. In addition to custodial tasks, this role involves providing excellent customer service and safety assistance by managing front desk operations including checking residents and guests in and out, maintaining records and logs, and coordinating with maintenance and custodial staff. You will also provide critical leadership and assistance during emergencies, contributing to a safe environment for everyone on site. Physical demands of the job include standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasional climbing or balancing. The role requires employees to navigate and assist during emergency evacuations, sometimes involving physical support while ensuring residents and guests' safety. The work environment may expose employees to occasional wet conditions, fumes, or chemicals, and the noise level is typically moderate.
