Gentiva Hospice is a national leader in providing compassionate hospice, palliative, home health care, and advanced illness management services across the United States. With nearly 600 locations and thousands of dedicated clinicians operating in 38 states, Gentiva Hospice is committed to delivering personalized care that supports patients and their families during some of the most challenging times in their lives. The company’s mission is to help people live every moment with dignity, grace, and love, whether they are recovering from illness, surgery, or managing serious or terminal diagnoses at home or in other care settings. Gentiva Hospice is proud to be a trusted name in hospice and palliative care, with a family of trusted brands including Emerald Coast Hospice Care, Heartland Hospice, Hospice Plus, Empatia Palliative Care, and Illumia Health, among others. The corporate headquarters is located in Atlanta, Georgia, and the organization values a collaborative environment where kindness and inspiring achievements are celebrated and career advancement opportunities are abundant. The role of an After Hours Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) at Gentiva Hospice is integral to ensuring continuous compassionate care for patients outside of normal business hours. This position specifically responds to patient and family needs during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, providing peace of mind and comprehensive care when it is needed most. The After Hours Hospice RN functions as a vital link between patients, their families, physicians, and the hospice care team during off-hours, handling urgent calls, symptom management, and clinical decision-making independently while maintaining close coordination with the daytime care team. In this role, RNs will provide direct patient care and emotional support within patients’ homes or other care facilities. They will assess and evaluate patient and family needs, participate in quality assessments, and maintain accurate clinical documentation. The position requires a compassionate and calm demeanor, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to manage emotionally intense situations effectively. The RN will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including LPNs/LVNs, CNAs, and support staff to ensure the delivery of quality, patient-centered care. Candidates for this role must have a current RN license or eligibility to obtain one in the state of employment, at least one year of nursing experience, and current CPR certification. A valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation are necessary due to the home-based nature of the care. Preferred experience includes hospice, home health, oncology, or palliative care, familiarity with symptom management and triage, and experience in on-call or overnight nursing roles. Gentiva Hospice not only offers competitive pay but also provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, generous paid time off plus holidays, wellness programs, continuing education support, company-paid life and long-term disability insurance, and voluntary benefits such as pet insurance and accident coverage. Whether full-time, part-time, or per diem, all associates have access to career advancement opportunities, recognition programs, and a supportive work environment dedicated to compassionate care. Joining Gentiva Hospice as an After Hours Hospice RN is an opportunity to be part of a respected healthcare team that truly makes a difference in patients' lives during the most vulnerable times.
