The role of the Polygraph Specialist within the NCCA is both highly specialized and critically important. It requires a candidate who is not only a subject matter expert but also an effective mentor and innovator in polygraph science. As a Polygraph Specialist, you will be responsible for mentoring students during their initial federal Credibility Assessment (CA) education, advising agency leadership, and providing technical guidance during emergency and hazard threat events. This position demands expertise in the development and implementation of advanced polygraph curricula, influencing policies and procedures across federal polygraph programs. Your work will involve recommending innovative course content, assisting supervisors in federal compliance matters, and participating in complex psychophysiological research.
Further responsibilities include serving as a leading resource for ongoing education within the federal CA community, ensuring procedures align with federal laws, congressional mandates, and established guidelines. You will contribute to the evolution of polygraph methodologies by engaging in highly technical research and investigations that require depth, intensity, and breadth of knowledge. This is a full-time position under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS), classified as an excepted service role. The specialist is pivotal in handling advanced polygraph examinations that serve law enforcement and intelligence missions nationwide, playing a significant part in the federal government’s efforts to maintain national security and integrity.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, hold current certification as federal polygraph examiners, and be graduates of the NCCA’s esteemed Psychophysiological Detection of Deception (PDD) training program. They must demonstrate a proven track record of mentoring, instructional abilities, and communication skills.
