The Housekeeping Worker position at Mount Sinai Morningside plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment across patient and non-patient areas within the facility. This role is essential in supporting the hospital's mission of delivering outstanding patient care by ensuring that all housekeeping tasks are performed efficiently and according to standardized procedures. The Housekeeping Worker is responsible for cleaning and maintaining various areas by utilizing mechanical equipment, tools, chemical solutions, and standard cleaning supplies to meet the department's high standards. This includes preparing cleaning solutions, dusting and wiping down furniture, fixtures, windows, vents, and other surfaces, as well as disinfecting patient rooms, beds, furniture, and medical equipment to reduce the risk of infection and maintain sanitary conditions. The role also involves handling and disposing of regulated medical waste safely, replenishing supplies in bathrooms, setting up conference and private dining rooms for meetings and gatherings, and following all safety and compliance procedures including OSHA and JCAHO standards. The Housekeeping Worker must operate cleaning equipment safely and keep it in good condition, report any safety hazards or maintenance issues, and adhere to proper labeling and storage of chemicals. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow established procedures consistently, and a commitment to promoting a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The employment type is hourly with a salary range of $24.605 to $26.4614 per hour, aligned with New York City law on salary transparency. The actual salary is dependent on factors such as experience, education, and operational needs.
