The North Tarrant Express (NTE), NTE 35W, and LBJ Express projects represent some of the most significant transportation infrastructure developments in Texas, specifically designed to alleviate traffic congestion and improve mobility in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan areas. These projects employ a pioneering public-private partnership (P3) model that includes design, build, finance, operate, and maintain responsibilities handled by a consortium led by Cintra, a global leader in transportation infrastructure. The NTE project was the first of its kind in Texas, featuring managed lanes and a complete reconstruction of 13.3 miles along the I-820/SH-183 corridor. Since its opening in October 2014, nine months ahead of schedule, the project has resulted in a 70 percent decrease in congestion time and a 15 percent boost in average driving speed, effectively doubling capacity while fostering smoother traffic flow through six cities in Northeast Tarrant County. Similarly, the NTE 35W project extends over 16.8 miles from downtown Fort Worth to the northern perimeter of Alliance Airport. This effort adds lane capacity and integrates tolled express lanes using dynamic pricing methods to ensure continuous, efficient traffic movement. The LBJ Express project, currently the largest P3 operation in Texas and one of the largest nationwide, provides crucial upgrades along I-635 and I-35E corridors in north Dallas. Initiated in 2009 and opened in September 2015, LBJ Express has reduced congestion by 60 percent while increasing average speeds by 10 percent, significantly easing commutes in a densely populated urban environment. What distinguishes these projects and their managing organization is a people-first culture. The company values professional and personal development for every employee, encouraging internal growth and offering pathways toward national and international career opportunities. Employees work in a fast-paced, diverse, and achievement-oriented environment, supported by competitive insurance packages, paid time off, and a 401(k) matching program. Staff members are integral to the ongoing success of these critical infrastructure initiatives and enjoy a dynamic workplace that prioritizes innovation and excellence. The Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator is a pivotal role focused on real-time traffic monitoring and management for the LBJ and NTE Managed Lane Projects. This position requires constant vigilance to identify and respond promptly to traffic incidents, incidents that could impact motorist safety and corridor efficiency. Operators utilize advanced traffic management systems, closed circuit television (CCTV), and various data sources like Waze and network feeds to detect accidents, construction, congestion, and hazards. The role demands engagement with incident responders and other agencies, effective communication via radio and telephone, and active management of traffic signage and toll pricing to manage flow and safety dynamically. Operators must also conduct system diagnostics and coordinate with maintenance teams to quickly resolve operational issues. The role is essential, often involving shift work including nights and weekends, requiring flexibility, fast decision-making, multitasking skills, and a calm, problem-solving approach in a high-pressure environment. This position promises a fulfilling career for those passionate about traffic safety and infrastructure management in one of the nation’s most vibrant metropolitan areas.
