The current opportunity is for the position of Recreation Program Coordinator, specifically within the Aquatics division. This role involves responsible recreation work focused on planning and supervising a wide array of recreational, educational, and prevention programs targeted at both children and adults. The Recreation Program Coordinator plays a critical role in the development and execution of city-wide initiatives that include aquatics, tutoring, arts and crafts, sports, special events, excursions, and leisure classes. This position requires collaboration with community members, residents, schools, and organizations to assess local needs and ensure that programs continuously evolve to meet those needs effectively.
The incumbent will assist in the grant application process, program budgeting, and the development of strategic plans that serve the community in a coordinated manner. Key responsibilities include training and supervising staff, monitoring program activities, maintaining supplies and equipment, and making public presentations at professional and community meetings. This role demands exceptional organizational skills, leadership ability, and a deep understanding of recreational and educational programming, particularly in aquatics.                 - Possession of valid California Class C Driver's License
 - Ability and willingness to work any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays
 - One year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
 - Ability to perform physical tasks related to aquatics programs
 - Ability to train and supervise staff
 - Good oral and written communication skills
 - Ability to work in a team environment
 - Spanish fluency preferred
 - Relevant certifications or willingness to obtain them
