In this dynamic environment, the role of Cook is essential for upholding the high standards of food preparation and service that guests expect. The Cook will be responsible for safely preparing a wide variety of food items in accordance with standardized recipes and menu specifications. This position requires a knowledgeable and efficient individual who can operate various kitchen equipment such as slicers, steamers, deep fryers, ovens, broilers, grills, mixers, kettles, and griddles. The Cook plays a key role in ensuring consistency and quality in all dishes prepared across the hotel’s food outlets, thereby enhancing the overall guest dining experience. The Cook not only prepares food but also actively participates with other team members in cooking, plating, and assembling menu items. Their responsibilities extend beyond cooking, as they are expected to provide excellent guest service by greeting guests approaching service areas and ensuring positive engagement with both internal and external patrons. Attention to hygiene and adherence to health codes and handwashing guidelines are critical aspects of the position, ensuring food safety and a clean working environment. In addition to culinary skills, the Cook must be proficient in reading and interpreting recipes, taking accurate measurements, and maintaining inventory by preparing written requisitions for supplies. This role demands teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen setting. Ideal candidates will have basic culinary knowledge, be familiar with cooking techniques including creating compound sauces such as Beurre Blancs, and have excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with other staff members. • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• at least 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen area preferred
• working knowledge of culinary terms preferred
• basic knowledge of culinary techniques and ability to execute recipes in a timely manner is preferred
• food safe certification from recognized authority is preferred
• able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license
• ability to read, write, speak and understand basic English
• ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
• ability to work flexible hours and handle high-pressure deadlines
