Raytheon Technologies Corporation (RTX) is a prominent American aerospace and defense company renowned for its cutting-edge technology and engineering excellence. Established with a mission to support national security and defense, RTX brings over a century of experience to meet the increasingly complex needs of defense and aerospace industries. The company focuses on delivering innovative solutions that ensure safety and security in an evolving global environment. RTX operates through multiple business units, including Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon Intelligence & Space, supporting a broad range of aerospace and defense applications. With a commitment to values such as safety, trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation, RTX fosters a culture centered on integrity and excellence in its workforce. RTX is currently seeking an Aviation Cybersecurity Expert to join its Product Cybersecurity Center (PCsC) Services and Training Team. This role is a remote, full-time position primarily supporting Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT, and Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA. The team plays a critical role in ensuring that RTX’s products are secure, resilient, and trustworthy by integrating cybersecurity best practices into the product lifecycle. The PCsC empowers business units to design, build, and assess product cybersecurity rigorously, protecting critical operations and ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards. Given the growing threats and cyber attacks on aviation systems, this role offers the opportunity to make a tremendous impact on the safety of flight operations and broader aviation infrastructure. In this role, the Aviation Cybersecurity Expert will lead efforts to develop secure architectures, perform in-depth threat and risk assessments, and support certification processes aligned with stringent aviation cybersecurity standards such as DO-326A/ED-202A, DO-356A/ED-203A, and EASA Part IS. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, certification authorities, regulatory bodies such as the FAA and EASA, and airline customers to ensure comprehensive cybersecurity strategies. The position demands expertise in both embedded and networked system security, requiring the candidate to stay abreast of evolving threats and industry best practices. The role is highly specialized within aerospace and safety-critical systems and demands a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with a strong background in cybersecurity engineering or software engineering within a DevSecOps environment. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation including security plans, risk assessments, and certification artifacts. While primarily remote, the role also involves periodic travel (estimated around 10%) to various program sites for engagements and training. Security clearance requirements are strict for this position, mandating U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work. This role is part of Raytheon’s broader mission to support defense and national security by safeguarding advanced aviation technology through rigorous cybersecurity practices. The salary range for this Aviation Cybersecurity Expert position is estimated between $124,000 and $250,000 USD, reflecting the seniority and expertise required. Candidates may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, paid time off, 401(k) match, and professional development opportunities. RTX is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
