The role of Porter within SMC is essential in maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of multi-family residential apartment communities. Porters work under the supervision of the Superintendent and are responsible for areas including grounds, amenities, building exteriors, leasing offices, parking lots, and various community buildings. This position is full-time and offers competitive hourly wages of $15.00 to $16.00, highlighting SMC’s commitment to fair compensation. The Porter is vital in ensuring that the community environment is safe, clean, well-maintained and inviting, directly contributing to resident satisfaction and property value. This role involves a diverse range of duties such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning various common and public areas, removing refuse, administering recycling per city guidelines, maintaining grounds and playgrounds, replacing light bulbs, washing windows, and more. Porters also assist maintenance staff when possible to help build skills for future advancement within the company. Safety responsibilities include attending training sessions, following personnel conduct codes, and reporting maintenance issues promptly. The job requires physical capability such as lifting up to 30 pounds, climbing ladders and multiple flights of stairs, and performing repetitive tasks over extended periods.
