The Porter role at Gerber Collision & Glass plays a vital part in ensuring customer satisfaction by maintaining the presentation and cleanliness of customer vehicles as well as the shop and office facilities. This position is crucial for supporting the quality repair process by prepping vehicles before repairs begin and thoroughly cleaning them upon completion. Additionally, the Porter maintains a safe, tidy, and organized environment throughout the shop, office, and surrounding grounds, including responsibilities such as emptying garbage, cleaning floors, dusting work areas, and managing tools and equipment. The role also entails transporting customer vehicles to subcontract locations for specialized repairs when necessary.
This position requires candidates to exhibit a strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and excellent customer service skills. A valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle safely are essential. The company prefers applicants with some automotive experience and a high school diploma or GED. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing for extended periods, and occasional stooping or kneeling. Compensation for the Porter role ranges from $14 to $17 per hour, commensurate with skill, education, and experience.
