The Porter role at gategroup is a vital position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of various operational areas including dish rooms, coolers, utility areas, locker rooms, restrooms, office spaces, and transportation zones both inside and outside the facility. This role demands individuals who are motivated and engaged, willing to contribute to making travel experiences better through meticulous cleaning and maintenance. As a unionized position, there is a union initiation fee of $75.00 and monthly dues of $76.80, which support employee representation and benefits. Porters perform sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash emptying to ensure all workspaces adhere to sanitation standards and corporate requirements. Candidates must be able to follow directions precisely, work effectively as part of a team, and occasionally undertake additional duties as assigned by management. This employment opportunity offers a dynamic working environment that involves handling products like pork, poultry, meat, and fish under varying temperature and noise conditions. The job requires physical endurance including lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds, and standing or bending regularly over shifts exceeding eight hours. Ideal candidates are at least 18 years old and preferably hold a high school diploma or GED. Up to one year of prior cleaning or related experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
