About the Role: Noveon Magnetics seeks a detail-oriented and experienced Plating Technician to join their dynamic team. This specialized role focuses on electroplating and corrosion-resistance plating processes essential to manufacturing quality magnet products. Candidates should possess at least three years of hands-on experience in surface finishing within direct manufacturing and commercialization settings, particularly with electroplating metals and metallic alloys in aqueous solutions. The role demands expertise in pre-treatment processes such as cleaning, pickling, and plating for materials like zinc, phosphate, nickel/copper, and epoxy coatings. The position involves working on pilot and production lines, applying coatings that ensure product durability and performance. A core responsibility is to assist plating engineers in developing wet processes and establishing efficient racking and testing protocols to achieve optimal plating quality. The technician will be actively involved in monitoring plating bath chemistries, maintaining equipment through preventive maintenance, and conducting visual and quality inspections. Working closely with senior engineers, the plating technician will support experimentation and continuous improvement efforts on the plating line. Moreover, this role demands proficiency in data management and analysis, utilizing tools such as Excel to document production metrics and statistical quality control data.
In addition to technical proficiency, the position requires knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures and comfort with measurement devices like micrometers and pH meters. Physical demands include the ability to handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive movements, and work on feet for extended periods.
