The Pilot Plant Technician role at Arkema’s King of Prussia facility is a vital non-supervisory position reporting directly to the Pilot Plant Manager. This role requires flexibility as it involves non-standard business hours and may include fixed or rotating shifts, weekends, and possible alternate shift coverage in both the pilot plant and boilerhouse operations. The Pilot Plant Technician is tasked with operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining a wide range of chemical process equipment and associated systems including wastewater treatment and utilities. Proficiency with instrumented control systems and PC-based software tools is essential for managing operational logs and procedures effectively. Key activities encompass conducting chemical process operations, performing quality control tests, supporting commissioning and startup projects, and providing emergency coverage as needed. In addition, the technician will apply mechanical capabilities to repair and improve equipment systems, contribute to safety initiatives such as inspections and hazard analyses, and train new team members. Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols, including emergency response and permit issuance, ensures the technician will play a critical role in maintaining an accident-free work environment. Additionally, the role involves operating the site’s utilities including boilers, steam generators, air compressors, and cooling systems. • High school diploma or equivalent
• Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Math skills required for conducting basic calculations
• Demonstrated mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
• Instrumentation and/or electrical skills preferred
• 5 years of experience in a technical lab, production, maintenance (mechanical or instrumentation), or utilities environment preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications
• Ability to operate chemical processes with use of computer controls
• Familiarity with DCS preferred
• Ability to read and modify technical drawings preferred
• Familiarity with federal health and safety regulations for chemical industry desired
