This position centers on the role of KC-135 Aircraft Systems and operational procedures instructor, a highly specialized aviation training role requiring significant prior flight experience and instructional expertise. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive instruction in aircraft operations, classroom sessions, simulator training, and practical environments, aiming to develop pilot proficiency and maintain operational effectiveness for KC-135 aircrew members. Instruction includes pilot procedures, Visual Threat Recognition Avoidance Training (VTRAT), and Crew Resource Management (CRM), ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards within a variety of learning platforms.
The instructor will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), contributing to curriculum development for new training courses and reviewing existing materials to update and enhance training policies. Administrative duties such as scheduling, record keeping, quality assurance, and safety compliance are integral to the role, requiring organizational skills and attention to detail. Physical requirements include the ability to enter simulators, endure simulator motion, and sustain academic instruction for extended periods, reflecting the physical and mental demands of aviation training environments.
Candidates are expected to maintain proficiency in aircrew training devices and emergency procedures, balancing their role as an educator with ongoing operational readiness. This role demands a strong ability to engage and command the respect of trainees, utilizing facilitation and data analysis skills to address student issues and ensure effective learning outcomes. The instructor must also be flexible to accommodate overtime, shift work, and any day of the week scheduling needs.

Eligibility for Department of Defense (DoD) personal security clearance is mandatory. - must be eligible for dod personal security clearance
- bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
- eight years total flying experience
- five years military experience
- at least two years kc-135 pilot flight instructor and training management experience
- recent experience as a kc-135 instructor pilot or evaluator pilot
- completion of a formal usaf instructor training course
- strong facilitation and data analysis skills
- ability to participate in periodic aircraft familiarization flights
- must acquire and maintain proficiency in emergency procedures
- ability to work with minimal supervision
- must be able to work overtime as required
- must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required
