The role of Pharmacy Technician at PharMerica involves a broad range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the accurate and efficient dispensing of medications. The technician is tasked with filling prescription items in compliance with state regulations, labeling products accurately to include all necessary cautionary instructions, and participating in inventory management — including stock replenishment and the removal of expired items. This position requires preparing various medication forms such as emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments, including non-sterile compounding tasks. Effective communication skills are important as the technician interacts with both internal and external customers in a professional manner. Additional duties may include processing returned medications for credit or destruction, assisting in the training of new staff members, and managing specialized tasks such as working in the controlled drugs room, operating automated packing machines, or handling IV medication preparation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high attention to detail, a goal-oriented mindset, and effective oral communication skills. Experience in a pharmacy setting, familiarity with medical terminology, and a pharmacy technician license are required. Experience in long-term care pharmacy is preferred but not mandatory.
