The role of Patient and Family Concierge at UPMC East is a vital full-time position designed for individuals passionate about providing comprehensive, compassionate service to patients, families, and visitors throughout their hospital stay. The Patient and Family Concierge acts as a pivotal point of contact, offering guidance, assistance, and support across multiple hospital departments, including environmental services, dietary, patient transport, and supply management. This role calls for professionals who can balance operational duties with empathetic patient interaction, ensuring that each encounter leaves a positive and lasting impression. As a Patient and Family Concierge, you will undertake a range of responsibilities such as greeting patients and visitors warmly, coordinating their destinations within the hospital, and providing escort services to ensure timely and accurate arrival at appropriate locations. You will play an essential role in maintaining the hospital environment by cleaning and organizing patient rooms and public areas, supporting dietary services through meal assembly and delivery following strict food safety standards, and assisting in patient transport and equipment management. Your commitment to quality and compliance with health and safety protocols will directly influence patient satisfaction and care quality. This role requires a compassionate individual who is adept at multitasking and thrives on interaction within a fast-paced medical setting. In addition to logistical support, you will manage supply inventory, ensure cleanliness, facilitate communication by answering unit phones, and uphold patient confidentiality and hospital policies. • High school diploma or active high school/GED program enrollment or one year of previous job experience instead of HS diploma/GED
• Desire, drive, and compassion to provide exceptional patient and family experience
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Previous experience in healthcare or customer service is a plus
• Act 34 clearance
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
• Ability to work full-time schedule including three shifts a week from 7 am to 7 pm
