SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) is a division of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a leading technology integrator in the government services sector. SAIC provides innovative solutions in defense, aviation, and federal civilian government missions. The CTS team supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by delivering high-quality training and simulation services to enhance the skills and readiness of air traffic controllers across the United States. As a prominent contractor, SAIC works closely with the FAA to ensure that air traffic controllers receive the best possible education to maintain safety and efficiency within the National Airspace System (NAS). SAIC's Dallas TRACON (D10) team is currently seeking a seasoned, part-time Air Traffic Control Instructor to help deliver comprehensive training to air traffic controllers. This role is critical in maintaining the expertise of the FAA workforce by providing hands-on instruction and simulation training that directly impact air traffic safety and operational proficiency. The position is based in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, with no travel or remote work opportunities. The Air Traffic Control Instructor at SAIC serves an essential function by ensuring that students, including developmental air traffic controllers and Certified Professional Controllers (CPCs), are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely manage the National Airspace System. The role requires familiarity with modern ATC automation tools, simulation systems, and procedures. The instructor will also mentor students and Remote Pilot Operators (RPOs), participate in the design and development of curriculum, and obtain necessary certifications for radar and non-radar simulation laboratories at FAA facilities. With a focus on hands-on instruction, the CTS Instructor position demands a high level of technical proficiency and effective communication skills to deliver classroom and laboratory training. The FAA entrusts its air traffic controllers with the safety of thousands of flights daily, and the quality of training provided by SAIC directly contributes to maintaining these safety standards. The role requires at least five years of experience as a Certified Professional Controller at an FAA facility similar to the Dallas TRACON or recent experience as a contract instructor at an FAA facility. Candidates must be U.S. citizens capable of obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust clearance. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, FAA CPC certification, and the ability to obtain Instructor-II Simulation Laboratory and Classroom Certification. Preferred candidates will have direct experience with ATC simulators, including scenario design using platforms like TSS, AT Coach, and SGET, and possess strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with FAA personnel at various organizational levels. Excellent teaching abilities, classroom management expertise, and a commitment to continuous student improvement are highly valued. This part-time day job offers a unique opportunity for experienced FAA personnel and retirees to contribute their expertise towards enriching the FAA’s air traffic control training programs. Earnings as an ATC instructor or contractor supervisor under this program are exempt from Supplemental Annuity earnings limits for FERS retirees aged 56 to 62, providing additional financial incentives. If you are passionate about air traffic control and training, have the required experience and certifications, and seek a fulfilling part-time role in the aviation training sector, SAIC's CTS team in Dallas looks forward to your application.
