The role of the Front Desk Cashier at Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Warren is a full-time, non-management position focused on guest services and operations within the rooms and guest services category. This role is essential in providing a smooth and welcoming check-in and check-out experience for guests. The Front Desk Cashier is responsible for managing guest reservations, verifying identities, processing payments, assigning rooms, and ensuring room keys are correctly activated and issued. In addition to handling these operational tasks, this position requires a strong customer service mindset to address and resolve guest requests, inquiries, or issues by coordinating with other departments such as bellperson services and housekeeping. The role also involves administrative tasks including completing designated cashier and closing reports in the hotel’s computer system, reviewing shift logs and daily memo books to document important information, and managing charges from hotel outlets such as the health club or retail shop to guest rooms. Another critical component of this position is supporting management by assisting in training, evaluating, motivating, and coaching other employees. The Front Desk Cashier acts as a role model and a first point of contact for the hotel’s Guarantee of Fair Treatment and Open Door Policy processes, demonstrating leadership and professionalism even in a non-management capacity.
