This position is responsible for supervising, training, and evaluating assigned personnel within Couch Restaurants. The role requires determining daily work priorities and planning appropriate schedules to ensure smooth operations throughout shifts. The supervisor is expected to skillfully assign tasks, monitor the progress of each team member, and review the quality and efficiency of completed work. A key function within this position is to act as a problem solver who maintains a successful and productive shift environment by addressing challenges proactively and ensuring excellent team coordination. Beyond supervisory duties, this position plays a direct role in food preparation and service. It involves preparing food following established recipes and using portion control standards to guarantee consistency. The role demands proficient use of various kitchen utensils and heavy kitchen equipment, including ovens, knives, mixers, industrial dishwashers, and stoves, requiring adherence to safety standards at all times. Serving food courteously and respectfully to customers with accurate knowledge of menu items and portion sizes is an essential aspect of the role. Other responsibilities include safely loading and transporting hot or cold food items to customers, serving lines, or dining tables. Maintaining cleanliness within the kitchen area by washing, sanitizing, and properly storing pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment is also critical. The role extends to cleaning tables, counters, and floors while rigorously following kitchen sanitation standards. This position also assists in special events across the university, including Presidential luncheons, catering needs, and student organizational events, thereby contributing significantly to the broader food service operations on campus. Employees in this role typically work shifts of around 5 hours, during which they receive a free meal. Uniforms are supplied at no cost but must be maintained by the employee. This job requires physical endurance to handle demanding tasks, including lifting heavy items, adapting to varying temperatures, and standing or walking for extended periods. Working during university closings, nights, and weekends may also be necessary for this position.
