The Non Food Handler position within the Food Service department at the Ernie Davis Dining Hall at Syracuse University plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the dining facility. This full-time, unionized role involves a mix of routine cleaning tasks and equipment operation, with work hours scheduled from 1:45 pm to 10:15 pm on Thursdays, Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, with Fridays and Saturdays off. The pay range for this position is between $19.157 to $21.286 per hour, based on a comprehensive pay determination process that reflects factors such as job responsibilities, experience, education, organizational priorities, legal requirements, and market analysis.
Key responsibilities include operating dishwashing machines, cleaning and storing dishes and utensils, washing pots and pans, mopping floors, cleaning walls, windows, cabinets, shelves, and equipment, clearing tables, disposing of trash and garbage, and replenishing milk and beverage dispensers. Additionally, employees must observe stringent safety and health regulations while maintaining the highest sanitation standards, sometimes handling cleaning products and working under physically demanding conditions such as extreme heat and repetitive movements. The position requires the ability to lift and carry heavy items, bend, twist, and stand for extended periods.
